Announced · Channel-Port aux Basques
$270M of federal work on the ferry terminals at Port aux Basques and Argentia, with procurement beginning.
What’s being built
Ottawa announced $270 million in June 2026 for upgrades to the Marine Atlantic terminals at Port aux Basques and Argentia, inside a broader $350 million package. Procurement is beginning and the work runs multi-year from 2026. Terminal work of this kind is marine piling and heavy marine civil, structural steel and welding, high-voltage electrical, drilling and blasting, and crane operation — and for Port aux Basques it is easily the largest job in the area.
Workforce
Multi-year marine civil work at two terminals — significant for both the southwest coast and Placentia Bay.
