45 turbines and a hydrogen plant near Sunnyside — the one NL wind-hydrogen project still clearly moving.
What’s being built
North Atlantic is developing 324 megawatts of wind, about 45 turbines, with a hydrogen plant on Placentia Bay. Front-end engineering is running through 2026 toward a final investment decision in the first quarter of 2027 and deliveries around 2030, at a reported cost near $1.75 billion. Of the five wind-hydrogen proposals the province once had, this is the one clearly advancing. About 1,200 construction jobs are expected once it is sanctioned.
Workforce
About 1,200 construction jobs are projected — the largest single crew call outside Labrador if it is sanctioned.
