Under construction · Holyrood
A roughly 150 MW combustion turbine at Holyrood — an $891M, four-year program starting on site in 2026.
What’s being built
NL Hydro is building a combustion turbine of about 150 megawatts at Holyrood to firm up supply on the Avalon. Early execution is under way with site construction beginning in 2026 and close-out around 2030, against a published cost near $891 million. This is classic industrial mechanical work — turbine and generator setting, large-bore piping, high-voltage electrical, instrumentation and controls — and it is the biggest energy job on the Avalon that is actually proceeding.
Workforce
About four years of industrial mechanical and electrical work within commuting distance of the northeast Avalon.
